Lent and Holy Week at Rez
Holy Week is the high point of the church year for the
Rez family. Over the years, it has been an extraordinary time in
which lives are touched by God's Spirit in profound ways. But it all
happens so quickly as Lent and Holy Week unfold.
Each class in this series explores the spiritual meaning and
liturgical practices associated with the Lenten season and with each
day of Holy Week. The class is designed to help both Rez newcomers and
old timers enter into Holy Week ever more deeply.

Life on the Rock on a Hostile World
Studies in 1 Peter
Gene Green
Christians
are increasingly facing opposition in our culture, both individually
and as a church, as we live our faith in a post-Christian society. The
early church lived in a pre-Christian
culture, and faced many similar hostilities. To help early Christians
stay faithful to Christ, Peter penned his first epistle, addresing
believers scattered throughout Asia Minor. Peter's response joins the
foundations of Christian theology and ethics as he teaches them, and
the church today, about life together on the Rock.

Gene Green is professor of New Testament at Wheaton College and has written both his doctoral
dissertation and a commentary on 1 Peter. He is author of the
Pillars New Testament Commentary on 1 Thessalonians (Eerdmans,
2002), and he is also currently working on The Theology of Peter: New Studies in Biblical Theology (InterVarsity, due out in 2008).
